This Month's Tip
How
to increase your energy in 9 easy steps
Step 1: "Breathe"
Step 2: "Rest and Relaxation"
Step 3: "Reset Your Aura Daily"
Step 4: "The Power of Water"
Step 5: "Reduce Your Stress"
Step 6: "Exercise"
Step 7: "Food"
Step 8: "Structural Care"
Step 9: "Goals and Dreams"
Step 2: Rest and Relaxation
To increase your energy you
have to relax more. There are many thousands of processes going on
in your body every millisecond that require (and generate) tremendous amounts
of energy. But all that work needs constant monitoring and repair
and garbage removal — no wonder we're often so tired!
The most important step is
planned, conscious relaxation time. This doesn't include watching
TV or reading the newspaper, but things like guided imagery tapes, meditation
and sitting outside in the sunlight.
Try taking a nap as regularly
as you can. Lying in the position "corpse pose," take a short 11
minute nap. Corpse pose is lying on your back, hands resting on your
abdomen, feet slightly elevated (during nap time elevating the feet helps
to get the blood back up to your head), covered with a light shawl or blanket.
To relax you into the nap quickly, watch your breath flow in and out through
your nose. Consciously slow down and expand the amount of breath
you take in and exhale. Even if you don't fall asleep you'll get
up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. p;
Bonus Tip
Creative Relaxation
Guided imagery is like hypnosis
in that you listen to a tape of instructions on how to relax your body
and mind. Most tapes start with changing your focus from outside
to inside by having you watch your breath rate and/or tensing and relaxing
the major muscle groups. Then you are guided on a mental journey
to a place of beauty and inner peace. The advantage of this type
of relaxation is that you have to actively relax and it incorporates not
only your body but mind and spirit, too.
A study was done where a group
of people used guided imagery once a week for ten weeks. After the
ten weeks their levels of interferon (an enzyme the body makes that is
critical to healthy immune function) has risen 48%! Imagine what
your health would be like if you could make the time to practice guided
imagery two or three times a week (or even daily).
Create and record your own
tape based on your own specific health, wealth or relaxation needs or ask
a hypnotist to make one for you. You can also purchase pre-recorded
tapes that take you deeply into a relaxed state.
Ask about the tape we carry
which I have found very useful for deep relaxation called "Journey to Health."
Herbs for Health
When stress is all around and
the deadlines are mounting...to aid you in relaxing try the following herbs
individually or in different combinations to find the ones that best suit
you .
KAVA KAVA (PIPER METHYSTICUM):
Used by the natives of the
South Pacific in their religious ceremonies, the Kava kava plant is known
for its relaxation properties of both the mind and the body (especially
the muscles). Kava kava is especially good to promote relaxation
during times of anxiety and helps to reduce fatigue.
(Kava Kava can have a numbing
affect on your tongue!)
VALERIAN ROOT:
Valerian root has been used
widely in folk medicine as a sedative (calms you) and antihypertensive
(helps to lower blood pressure). A 128 patient study in 1982 revealed
that valerian root significantly improves sleep quality. Valerian
is also known for its anti-spasmodic (stops spasms) properties. Just
to warn you, valerian stinks!!
HOPS (HUMULUS LUPULUS):
Hops have been used as a medicine
for at least as long as for brewing. The flowers are used for their
sleep-inducing, sedative effect. Research has also shown that hop
extracts relax smooth muscle, especially that of the digestive tract and
also appears to reduce nervous tension. The ability of the hops to relax
and soothe is complemented by the antibacterial activity of components
lupulone and humulone which reduce inflammation.
PASSION FLOWER:
The genus Passiflora is indigenous
to South America and is now widely cultivated in Europe for its sedative
and anti-spasmodic properties. Passiflora has long been used for
its sedative action. It is still employed against sleeplessness and seems
to also have a profound effect against neuralgia.
ST. JOHN'S WORT (HYPERICUM
PERFORATUM):
When you think of relieving
depression, think of St. John's Wort. It is licensed in Germany for
the treatment of anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. (Do not
take St. John's Wort if you are currently taking a pharmaceutical anti-depressant)
NOTE: If herbs
are strong enough to help you, they must be strong enough (taken improperly)
to cause harm. This is not meant to scare you, only to remind you
to use herbs respectfully. Side effects from herbs are generally
few and far between, so use common sense and/or get a professional opinion
when necessary.

Nothing will be important in life except your frequency of vibration.

Detoxification for Health and Healing
Is Toxicity Robbing You of Vibrant Health?
Two of the most important keys
to health, wellness and longevity are proper exercise and decreasing the
toxic load on our body. Toxins come from the outside (air pollution,
water pollution, insecticides, pesticides) and from within (the waste products
of our metabolism). We'll discuss the downside and dangers of toxic
buildup and ways to enhance your body's ability to eliminate toxins more
efficiently.

Wellness and Longevity
Reverse Your Aging, Increase Your Vitality
There are immutable universal
laws like gravity. Similarly, there are laws in nature that govern
how our bodies work most efficiently. When we ignore these principals
of health we invite disease and aging. Dr. Khalsa will explore the
causes
of disease and premature aging and the principle-centered health steps
you can take to slow the natural progression of aging and disease.
We will cover the Three
Steps to Total Well Being:
-
Determining your level of health
now
-
Designing a health regimen tailored
to your specific needs including exercise, diets for cleansing, the power
of detoxifying, proper use of supplements, herbs and enzymes
-
Creating a lifestyle that supports
long term wellness
This lecture will include exercises,
foods and relaxation techniques that you can use immediately to enhance
your well being and slow the aging process.
"I am very passionate about
this course. It is the cutting edge information on health, wellness
and longevity that I have spent the last 25 years gathering and applying
both personally and with my patients."
