IF
YOU ARE FEELING DISCONNECTED WITH YOUR LIFE, THIS LITTLE TALE
MAY WELL SUM UP YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND
There’s
nothing whatever the matter with me. I’m just as healthy as I can be. I have arthritis in both my knees And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze. My pulse is weak and my blood is thin, But I’m awfully well for the shape I’m
in. I think my liver is out of whack And a terrible pain is in my back.
My hearing is poor, my sight is dim,
Most everything seems to be out of trim. But I’m awfully well for the shape I’m
in. I have arch supports for both my feet, Or I wouldn’t be able to go on the
street. Sleeplessness I have night after night, And in the morning I’m just a sight. My memory is failing, my head is in a
spin, I’m peacefully living on aspirin, But I’m awfully well for the shape I’m
in.

Please Explain...
Why Do My Feet Ache?

We take our feet for granted. Usually, they do what
we want without any thought on our part. But, did you know…
* One quarter of the bones of the entire body are in the
feet: 52 of them, firmly but flexibly held together by muscles and
ligaments.
* There are three arches, two lengthwise and one across each
foot. Arches allow us to stand for long periods of time without any
other support. We’re the only creatures on earth which can do this.
* When we walk, we do it one foot at a time. A 100 lbs.
person walking a mile puts 25 tons of force on each foot. Running
quadruples the force!
* When feet are out of balance, the rest of the body has to
make up for this problem.

Many physical conditions such as knee, hip, back, shoulder pain
and even headaches can be traced directly to feet which may not even
hurt.
Shoes are made a little
differently by each manufacturer. What may seem to be a minor
insignificant variation in fit may be very important to the health
of your feet and therefore, the health of your body.
* Women’s
shoes should have heels no higher than one (1) inch.
* When heels wear down on your shoes, have them
replaced promptly. Do not let them wear excessively.
* When buying new shoes, bring them in to us before you
wear them so we can muscle test the fit and find out if the shoes
will help or hurt your feet.
Another way to insure the best
possible foot care is to wear Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers (or Power
Soles). These supports are handcrafted and custom made for your
feet. The supports are placed inside your shoes and should fit
snugly against the counter or back of the shoe. It usually takes
about two weeks to adapt to your supports—the foot imbalance you
have didn’t happen overnight and, similarly, and correction requires
some time, too!
If you would like more
information about Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers and Power Soles, please
contact the office. Remember, your feet are special too!

Just For You
Meditation to Tranquilize the Mind
This
meditation with tranquilize the mind within 3 minutes. The hand
position is called “the mudra which pleases the mind.” Buddha gave
it to his disciples for control of the mind. Here’s how to do it:
Sit on the floor with your legs
comfortably crossed or in a chair with both feet balanced on the
ground, with a straight spine. With the elbows bent, bring the
hands up and in until they meet in front of the body at the level of
the heart. The elbows should be held up almost to the level of the
hands. Bend the index fingers of each
hand
in toward the palm. Join them with each other so they press
together along the second joint. The middle fingers are extended
and meet at the fingertips. The other fingers are curled into the
hand. The thumbs meet at the fingertips. Hold the mudra about 4
inches from the body with the extended fingers pointing away from
the body.
Focus on the tip of your nose.
Inhale completely and hold the breath while repeating the mantra of
your choice (peace, love, Har, etc.) 11-21 times. Exhale, hold the
breath out, and repeat the mantra an equal number of times.
Practice for 3 minutes.

techniques/modalities she enjoys the challenge of creating truly
individualized sessions for personalized results. From gentle
rocking techniques, Swedish & Deep Tissue Massage, to Reflexology
and beyond!
Maureen also
brings the addition of Hot Stone Massage to treatments currently
offered at GRD Healing Arts Clinic. The popularity of Hot Stone Massage has
grown tremendously and has become one of the most sought after
treatments in spas and health centers around the world.
Hot Stone
Massage dates back hundreds of years. The massage itself is
most commonly known for its ability to induce a deep sense of
relaxation, reduce stress and rejuvenation. What is a Hot Stone
Massage?...
Stones from
the beaches of Central America are heated in water and placed on
larger areas of the body such as the back and torso. The stone’s
warmth penetrates the tissues allowing for increased blood
circulation. The legs, arms, and neck are massaged with hot stones
using long flowing strokes creating an analgesic effect for both
superficial and deep muscles of the body. The heat and massage from
the stones help tight muscles loosen and relax. AAaaahhh!!!
Call to
schedule your first Hot Stone Massage with Maureen TODAY! 770-551-0155.
